Summer Camp Update
Room is still left! We have some openings left in all of our summer camps, including the June 15-19 camp in Wexford, the June 22-26 camp in Point Breeze (East End), and the July 27-31 camp in Peters Township. These summer camps are designed for kids ages 7-15, and are great for kids who have never fenced before, or for those who have taken a previous camp or beginner class. We are also running competitive camps for those fencers with more experience. If you would like more information on these camps, please click on Classes to the right, or email Brad at cellier@threeriversfencing.org with questions or to register. Thank you, and we look forward to teaching you this great sport this summer!

Olympic Medals!
They did it! The USA Women's Foil Team defeated the 2007 World Championship Polish Team, then defeated Hungary to win the Silver Medal, eventually losing to the Russians in the Gold Medal Bout. Likewise the Men's Saber Team won the Silver Medal! In addition, the USA women's fencers swept the Olympic saber individual event,
winning gold, silver and bronze! We were hoping for big things, but it
doesn't get any better than that! Mariel Zagunis repeated her gold
medal performance from Athens, and Sada Jacobson and Becca Ward won
silver and bronze, respectively. Read all about it, here: http://www.nbcolympics.com/fencing/news/newsid=185387.html#three+all+u+s+sweeps+sabre

2008 National Championships
The Three Rivers Fencing Center was represented well at the National Championships this year. 12 Fencers competed, making the trip to San Jose, CA, and we even collected some hardware! Stephen Baker won the Bronze Medal in the Division II Event! - this is a special result, as the Division II Event is extremely challenging. Likewise, Lynn Botelho won the Bronze Medal in the Veteran Foil event! Competing at National Championships is a victory in itself, and we are proud of all of our competitors! Special thanks to Coach Iana Dakova, who coached our fencers for the 10 days of events.

Buckie Leach Seminar
On May 22 and 23, the Three Rivers Fencing Center (TRFC) hosted a very special Fencing and Coaching Seminar at the Pine-Richland High School. It was conducted by Buckie Leach, coach of several international champions, 1996 and 2000 USA Olympic Coach, and current coach at the New York Fencers Club. Many fencers took advantage of the Seminars, which covered beginner and advanced tactics for developing fencers. Many coaches also took advantage of the Seminars to improve their coaching skills. Thank you to all who attended, to TRFC Head Coach, Iana Dakova, for organizing the event, and to Buckie Leach for taking time out of his schedule to come to Pittsburgh and share his talents and experiences. TRFC will continue to sponsor events to improve the quality of fencing - stay tuned for more events in the future!
